Volunteering is an expression of concern about someone or something other than yourself. It’s about going the distance to help your fellow citizens or working with others who share a common goal. It’s about putting your values and beliefs into action; it’s about being an active citizen and building a stronger community. Now that students must complete 40 hours of volunteering to graduate from high school, information about how to go about finding volunteer opportunities that suit the interest and skills of youth volunteers is important.
