4rd Annual Dr. William Winegard Exemplary Volunteer Involvement Awards
The Dr. William Winegard Exemplary Volunteer Involvement Awards will be presented at the University of Guelph on Thursday, April 1st. This event honours the significant community involvement and charitable activities of a University of Guelph student, staff and faculty member. See the Award Winners.
National Volunteer Week Launch
This week of celebration will be launched through the unveiling of a photo montage created to recognize and highlight the contribution of our community volunteers. This event will take place Monday, April 19th at 10:30am at the City Hall Galleria and will include a few words from Councilor Ian Findlay. This free event is open to the public. Time to Give Breakfast
We’re rolling out the red carpet and celebrating volunteers who make a difference. Join us on Thursday, April 22rd from 7-9am at The Holiday Inn and Conference Centre. The Time to Give Breakfast will feature the 2nd annual premiere of short films made in our community to showcase local volunteers. Watch the films.
5th Annual Wellington County Volunteer Appreciation Awards Reception
The Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington and the County of Wellington will have a special presentation and reception for the winners of this award program at a County Council session on Thursday, April 29th. This award program was created to recognize and honour the significant contributions of individuals who devote their volunteer time and effort to the continuous development of a nonprofit/charitable organization(s). ChangeTheWorld Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge
This Challenge is a call to young people to sign up for three hours of volunteer time over a three week period in April and May. A half day of volunteering will take place in Guelph on Saturday, May 1st. This event will bring together over 300 youth to volunteer with local community organizations. Additional events include performances by youth at local long-term care facilities. See the Youth Page for more information.

Workshops
As part of our commitment to provide education and training activities both to volunteers and organizations that use volunteers, the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington presents a monthly schedule of workshops each year. Topics of recent sessions have included: strategic planning, financial stewardship, AGM 101, and best practices for recruiting and retaining volunteers.
Events
The Volunteer Centre hosts a variety of events to promote vounteerism in our community. Yearly events include:
For Volunteer Centre events or workshops which require payment cash or cheque is accepted prior to or on the day of the event.
Cancellation Policy: Fees for workshops, training opportunities and events are due prior to or on the date of the event. The Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington reserves the right to request fees in advance. Participants who have registered for a workshop, training opportunity or event with the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington will be invoiced for the fee associated with the event if cancellation is not made at least 48 hours prior to the date and time of the event. Cancellation fees will be waived if the participant can find and guarantee an alternate to attend.
Member Events
As a service to our members, we also post the events and activites of our member agencies. Members can submit their events by e-mail with details about date and time, location, cost and a description. Contact us to showcase your event today!
